Finished object number one in my Handmade Wardrobe project is the Yakushima by Justyna Lorkowska. I wanted a long and dark cardigan that could go with most things in my wardrobe. I used a lot of time finding the perfect yarn for this project and ended up with a new to me yarn Dale Natural Lanolin Wool in colorway 1431 – a charcoal grey. My swatch (yes I swatched!!!) turned out a bit on the small size, so I decided to knit size XL, because I liked the fabric I got from my needle size of choice: 4.5mm. This yarn is labeled DK on Ravelry, but I think it´s closer to worsted weight.
The construction of the cardigan was top down with a contiguous method of shaping set-in sleeves which is seamless, but looks like it´s sewn in. So the fit is very good! The cardigan also has pockets, and as far as I can remember this is my first knitted item with pockets like this. (The Still light had pockets, but a different kind of pockets.) It was an all over clear and easy pattern and I can recommend it.
Turns out that this colorway is soooo hard to take pictures of, and the only shot I´ve managed to get so far is this… So if you want to see more I suggest that you check out the Ravelry page and have a look at all the gorgeous projects.
Gustav was wondering what I was up to, so naturally he got to be a part of this picture as well… I have to point out in the name of Handmade wardrobe pieces, that I´m wearing Jerseykjole med sving that I´ve sewn myself and the Find your fade shawl by Andrea Mowry. The dress has been a life saver during this pregnancy. I shortened the waist so it would fit over the bump without looking weird, and I it is my go to piece of clothing when all else fails. And hopefully I will be able to use it after the baby as well. I´m not a super experienced sewer, but this was a great pattern and I will sew it again if I get time. As far as I know it´s only in Norwegian though…
